Through direct service and volunteer mobilization, Oregon State Service Corps (OSSC) AmeriCorps members address significant community needs in the areas of disaster preparedness, education, public health, human needs and volunteer coordination.
AmeriCorps members with OSSC perform direct service work within diverse communities across Oregon. They recruit volunteers, help young people and adults prepare for emergencies, lead after school activities that keep kids off the street, teach life skills to at-risk youth, refer low-income families to local resources, teach museum curriculum to elementary students and more.
Oregon State Service Corps offers both full-time and part-time placements lasting from September through July. All OSSC members receive training in first aid and CPR. Full-time members are trained in disaster response through the Red Cross and can provide up to 80 hours of local/in-state disaster relief.
This program is available to all without regard to race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, political affiliation or in most instances, religion..
Qualified individuals with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. We provide reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals and conduct all activities in fully accessible settings.
