ALERT, Awareness Learning and Emergency Response Training, is an educational program designed to empower youth to use their skills and talents to educate the children of our community about disaster preparedness and correct disaster responses.
ALERT instructors are high schools students, trained to deliver the Be Ready 1-2-3 curriculum in grade school classrooms throughout the Portland area, teaching fire, earthquake and winter storm safety. The ALERT Program can be incorporated into a high school classroom curriculum, presented as a before or after school project or offered as a volunteer opportunity for extracurricular service clubs.
If you would like to participate as a Red Cross ALERT instructor or want to find out more about how to schedule ALERT in your school, call 503-528-5673.
