1. Complete a Self Assessment: Answer a few short questions to determine if volunteering with the Oregon Trail Chapter is the right choice for you.
2. Review the Volunteer Opportunities: Review the list of open positions to see if there's one that meets your skills and interests. You will be redirected to our volunteer management site, Volgistics.
3. Submit a Volunteer Application: Complete and submit your application online. You will be redirected to our volunteer management site, Volgistics.
4. Phone Interview: One of our volunteers will call you to discuss your interest in volunteering with the Red Cross and review current opportunities.
5. Attend an Introduction to Volunteering Session: Attend a brief informational session at the chapter to learn more about the American Red Cross and the work of the Chapter.
6. Complete Your Paperwork Once you have completed the Introduction and phone interview process, review the Volunteer Handbook and complete the forms below:
· Volunteer Handbook Acknowledgement and Receipt
· Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
· Intellectual Property Agreement
7. View our national American Red Cross On-line Orientation for new employees and volunteers (NEVO). The orientation is split into four modules of varying length. It will take about an hour to complete the whole course, but you can break it into sections.
8. Request a Background Check: All employees and volunteers of the American Red Cross are required to request a background check on-line. The background check consists of a social security number verification and a seven year criminal look back. There is no cost for the applicant to complete the background check.
Please email us when you have completed the orientation. After you have completed the previous steps, Volunteer Services will assign you to a department and you will be on your way!
