An early evening fire forced a family of three adults out of their home in the 7600 block of SE Flavel street at about 7:00 p.m. Friday.

The fire, which caused moderate physical, smoke and water damage to the home, rendering it uninhabitable, was quickly extinguished by Portland Fire Fighters but not before it had filled the small home with heavy smoke and left gapping holes in the roof and ceiling of the residence.

The American Red Cross was notified by Portland Fire and Rescue after the scene had been secured. Red Cross volunteers assisted the displaced residents by providing assistance with food, clothing and temporary lodging.

No one was injured in the fire.
