SABA LMS Access (for OTC Disaster Volunteers)*
* Volunteers from community chapters should contact their local chapter for username information.
Introduction to Disaster Training
Responding to a disaster requires quick thinking and standardized operations. Volunteers who wish to respond both locally and nationally must be trained in advance, as there is little time for training during the disaster. Classes are structured for advancement into American Red Cross groups and activities. When a disaster happens, we call on those who are trained to perform specific functions.
No Cost to Attend!
- Courses are provided by Red Cross Specialized Disaster Instructors
- Participants are welcome to attend any class
- Registration priority will be given to Red Cross personnel
- Classes are subject to cancellation so check the Statewide Training Calendar and/or call the Chapter to ensure valid start time and location
Statewide Training Calendar ( August September October)
We have added listings for all Oregon Chapters to this Calendar.
Oregon Trail Chapter Listings include: Class name, Day/Date, SABA LMS ID, Time, and Training Location
Other Chapter Listings include: Class Name, Day/Date, and Contact links for further information
OTC Non-SABA Workshops: Chapters may occasionally offer workshops that are not part of the national SABA/LMS database but that allow Emergency Services volunteers to sign-up using the chapter volunteer database (Volgistics) Volunteer Information Center (VicNet).
VicNet registration will be noted in the SABA LMS ID column below if available.
Log in to your VicNet Profile. Your username is your email address. If you have not noted your password, click on Forgot Password on the VicNet login screen and it will be emailed to you. Go to the VicNet Login page. Available self-scheduling appears in the My Schedule tab. If you have questions, please send an email to otcstaffing@oregonredcross.org.

Disaster Training Classes
Red Cross disaster training is presented in a variety of formats, including online, blended (online plus classroom) and live classroom courses. Most required classes are created by the American Red Cross or the Chapter, but some learning is available from other sources, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA IS classes) or Multnomah County (Food Handler's Certification). The tables below list all available classes by category: ARC Disaster Classes, OTC Disaster Classes, OTC Health & Safety, FEMA, and Miscellaneous.
Class Certificates
Students taking classes not tracked through SABA (e.g. FEMA) should send a copy of the class certificate to the Disaster Services staffing office for entry into their training record.
