¿Está usted preparado para un desastre? No matter what language they speak, the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter wants all Oregonians to be prepared for a disaster. And now there are new materials available in Spanish to better serve our state’s Latino population.

One addition is the Todos Juntos Preparamos A Oregon (Together We Prepare Oregon) booklet, available directly from the Oregon Trail Chapter, located at 3131 N. Vancouver Ave. in Portland. A comprehensive emergency preparedness guide, Todos Juntos Preparamos A Oregon covers emergency plans, disaster kits, water and food safety, utility safety and much more. Additional Spanish language preparedness materials are available online at www.prepareforlife.org/spanish.

The new booklet is just one of many ways that the Oregon Trail Chapter is working to meet the needs of Spanish speakers. The chapter recently added Francisco Ianni as an instructor and Latino outreach specialist, enabling more health and safety classes to be taught in Spanish. Registration for these classes is available online at www.redcross-pdx.org. For groups and organizations, free presentations in English or Spanish can also be scheduled by calling 503-528-5665.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Local Oregon Trail Chapter volunteers respond to residential fires and other disasters an average of every 40 hours. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from Oregonians. Financial gifts help provide shelter, food, clothing, counseling and other immediate assistance to those in need. Call (503) 284-1234 or visit www.redcross-pdx.org.
