The home on SW Stahl suffered major damage according to emergency response personnel. The two adults and two children were able to escape the home unharmed. Disaster Action Team responders from the Red Cross are helping the family meet their immediate needs – such as food, clothing and shelter.
This is the second evening fire displacing residents of the Portland metropolitan area in the last 24 hours. Red Cross responders assisted two families in NE Portland Sunday evening.
In addition to meeting the families' emergency needs, case workers with the Oregon Trail Chapter will meet with the families to help determine what their long-range needs might be.
The assistance is offered at no charge to Red Cross disaster clients, who are served thanks to the generosity of Oregonians supporting the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Local Red Cross volunteers respond to residential fires and other disasters every 40 hours on average. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from Oregonians. Financial gifts help provide shelter, food, clothing, counseling and other immediate assistance to those in need. Call (503) 284-1234 or visit www.redcross-pdx.org |
