Disaster Volunteers from the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross, along with the TIPS (Trauma Intervention Program) volunteers responded to the scene to assist the displaced individuals with any emergency needs they may have. Mental health, as well as nursing staff were there to comfort and aid the individuals and families.
The Lake Oswego Fire and Police Departments responded to the two-alarm blaze Tuesday afternoon which destroyed a couple of units and caused damage to several others.
“When disasters like this occur, they significantly impact individual's lives. Once again today, I saw disaster volunteers, along with volunteer organizations respond quickly to the call for assistance to help these unfortunate disaster victims. Thanks to individuals, organizations such as these and to the community that gives support to these groups, they can be there when called upon” stated Phil Doolittle, Disaster Action Team Leader for the Oregon Trail Chapter. The local Red Cross Chapter has eight rotating volunteer disaster teams that includes hundreds of volunteers and paid staff personnel.
