Nicolas Morales and his family were sitting down for a Father’s Day dinner, when lightning struck through a bedroom in his house, starting a fire. The fire department arrived on the scene and handled the blaze, but the event left Nicolas, his wife and their two children, as well as four other family members without shelter. The Red Cross, thanks to the generous support of Oregonians, was able to step in and provide hotel accommodations, at no charge.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
