Red Cross Offers Babysitter’s Training A Perfect Summer Activity for Kids

In addition to providing valuable employment skills and business practices, this fun, interactive course teaches responsible leadership; decision making skills; safe play; and basic infant care including diapering and feeding. Students will also learn the first aid and safety skills needed to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. At the end of the course each child will receive a babysitter’s handbook and an American Red Cross babysitters training card.

The following classes will be offered in May and June at three locations:

“In addition to providing youth the skills needed to be a great babysitter, the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training assists youth in building self confidence and introduces them to the business skills required for future employment,” said Daniel Soule, youth education specialist for the Oregon Trail Chapter.

The fee for this course is $35.00 per person; however scholarships are available to those who qualify. To register, call (503) 280-1440 or visit www.redcross-pdx.org. Click on the “Health and Safety” tab, and then click “First Aid/CPR/AED Online Registration.” After registering as a user, click on “Youth Programs” then “Babysitter’s Training.”
