Individuals, businesses, schools and organizations have pledged more than $213 million to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, with the Oregon Trail Chapter contributing more than $220,000 in local donations. The American Red Cross estimates that it will spend approximately $400 million providing immediate and long term relief to the areas affected by the December 26th tsunami.

Donations to the American Red Cross International Response Fund support five key areas: food and safe water; health care and disease prevention; immediate family supplies; mental health counseling; and disaster preparedness and prevention measures.
