PORTLAND, Ore. – One couple has already found love at Singles CPR…who will be next?

On Wednesday, October 21, the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross will again offer Singles CPR – a chance to learn the skills to save a life in an informal, interactive setting that's perfect for mixing and mingling.

The class will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Cleaners at Ace Hotel Portland, 1022 SW Stark. Participants can register online at www.oregonredcross.org/SinglesCPR.

"We've already heard from a couple who met at our first Singles CPR class on Valentine's Day, and I have no doubt there will be more to come," said Lise Harwin, communications director for the Oregon Trail Chapter. "Given that the inspiration for Singles CPR started with the ‘missed connections' section of Craigslist, we're excited to now be making connections of our own!"

While the real reward might be finding true love, class participants will also enjoy complimentary appetizers from Clyde Common and truffles from Pix Patisserie. They'll receive a free two-week membership to the Portland Mercury's Lovelab personals and, most important, Red Cross certification in CPR. Happy hour socializing – both before and after class – will take place at Clyde Common.

Singles CPR is part of a series of new takes on traditional CPR classes. Other special tracks include Comedy CPR, which takes place on the second Tuesday of every month at The Blue Monk, and LGBTQ CPR, which will be offered in November or December.

In Oregon, the American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disaster an average of 10 times a week; supplies more than 90 percent of Oregon's blood; teaches thousands of Oregonians lifesaving skills; offers transportation to seniors and the disabled; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization – not a government agency – and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. For more information, please visit
