VicNet.

The Chapter database, Volgistics, allows you to view certain fields in your record through the Volunteer Information Center (VicNet). You will receive your VicNet User ID and password by separate email immediately following this one. As explained below, we have created fields for your DSHR Self-Serve ID and password and your SABA/LMS username and password in your VicNet Profile. You are encouraged to login to VicNet and review this new feature.

Links.

You can find links to VicNet, DSHR, and SABA/LMS on the chapter web page in the Links and Jargon Section.

DSHR Self-Serve

Self-Serve login and password. Rather than continue to periodically email your Self-Serve login and password information, we have posted it, along with your SABA/LMS ID and password, in your Volunteer Information Center (VicNet) Profile. This will give you access to the information at any time as well as the ability to store your password when you change it from the default password that was initially generated by the system. If you have already done so, that field in your VicNet Profile will say “User Updated.” We can reset the password to the original default, but cannot extract the new password from the system.

Instructions. There is an information document about DSHR Self-Serve in the Document Library on the chapter web page. Therefore, I will not repeat the instructions here. (Updated instructions document posted on August 10, 2010.) You can find the document in the document library in the DSHR Info section. You can get direct access to the library with the following link:

Two additional Self-Serve documents are also available in the Document Library

  • DSHR Self-Serve PC Checklist
  • DSHR Self-Serve PopUp Blockers (described how to disable common pop-up blockers)

Using Self-Serve. The primary purpose of DSHR Self-Serve is to post your availability for national deployment. Most of the other fields in your profile are read-only and must be edited by the Chapter staffing office. Remember that the initial recruitment list consists of those members qualified for national deployment who have availability dates entered in the system.

SABA/LMS

As explained in my earlier “DSHR and Training System Updates” email, we are in the process of implementing the new National American Red Cross learning management system, referred to as SABA LMS. The initial “migration” has occurred, and further data migration is ongoing. The old Plateau LMS system is now Read-Only. Your new SABA LMS record retained your old Plateau LMS Username but all passwords were reset. That Username and password are also posted on your VicNet Profile in the event that you want to check out the new system. (We are not yet ready to accept class registrations through this system and ask that you email your registration request for the time being to estraining@redcross-pdx.org. We will keep you posted on progress.)

The current training calendar is posted on this web page in Disaster Training.

Thanks for familiarizing yourselves with these systems.
