Oregon's wilderness is beautiful…enjoy it safely!
This 16-hour course is for those who work, live or play in remote areas - away from the usual EMS service. Even though the emergency workers near these areas may be trained to search for and rescue those in need, there may be a delay in the notification for assistance, the time required to get to the patient, or in moving the patient to more advanced treatment.
Prerequisites
- Possess current adult CPR/AED certification
- Be at least 14 years of age on or before the last scheduled session of the course

Skill Sessions, Demonstrations and Scenarios
The skill sessions, demonstrations and scenarios combine to provide participants with knowledge and skills to help them respond to emergencies in a delayed-help environment:
- Performing a log roll
- Making a hypothermia wrap
- Performing the BEAM technique
- Throwing assist
- Scenario: Spinal Injury
- How to use the EpiPen®
- Applying direct pressure
- How to use the Twinject®
- Demonstration: Using a tourniquet
